This is not your average catering job. It is a great chance to put your catering qualifications and skills into practice and make an impact far beyond the kitchen. As part of the prison's catering team, you will work in a professional industrial kitchen environment, preparing and cooking quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison and supporting offenders to learn new skills and work towards gaining qualifications to reduce reoffending.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the work of offenders to prepare and cook meals.
- Support offenders to develop new skills and progress towards formal qualifications.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen.
- Communicate confidently in English with staff and offenders.
Work a 37 hour week on a rotating shift pattern that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Receive a 20 % unsocial hours payment added to basic pay.
Band 3 salary minimum (incl. unsocial hours): £34,928
Band 3 salary maximum (incl. unsocial hours): £36,778
- Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering, or equivalent.
- Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
- Familiar with current health, safety and hygiene regulations for kitchen work.
- Competence within an industrial kitchen environment.
- English language proficiency.
Refresher food safety (HACCP) training should be completed at three year intervals.

Hybrid working arrangements may be offered where business need allows. The role must be based in the UK. Flexible arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
