Prison Catering: Caterer - HMP Grendon & Springhill

This is not your average catering job. It is a great chance to put your catering qualifications and skills into practice and make an impact far beyond the kitchen. You will work in a professional industrial kitchen environment, overseeing the work of offenders to prepare and cook quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison, and support them in learning new skills and gaining qualifications.
Responsibilities- Oversee offenders in preparing and cooking meals for the prison.
- Ensure all meals meet nutritional and quality standards.
- Support offenders in learning new skills and working towards qualifications.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Operate within a 37 hour work week, including shift patterns that may extend beyond 7 am-7 pm, and cover weekends and public holidays.
- Work in a team environment and assist with training and development initiatives.
- 37 hour work week with shift patterns that may include unsocial hours.
- Unsocial hours payment: 20% of basic pay.
- Band 3 salary minimum (incl. unsocial hours) - £34,928.
- Band 3 salary maximum (incl. unsocial hours) - £36,778.
- Roles can be open to part time and job share arrangements; all shifts must be covered.
- Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering or equivalent.
- Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and hygiene regulations for kitchen work.
- Demonstrated competency within an industrial kitchen environment.
- Ability to speak with confidence in English.
- Required refresher training in food safety (HACCP) will be completed at three year intervals.
- Signed as a member of the Civil Service - eligible for pension schemes and other benefits.
