Principal WTG Engineer

Location: Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey - Hybrid arrangement: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

Contract type: Outside IR35, Principal WTG Engineer role.

Role Overview

As Principal WTG Engineer you will report to the Floating ILA Engineering Manager within the Offshore Wind business line and be responsible for all activities related to turbine design and interface with turbine OEM in offshore wind.

Responsibilities

• Build and verify aeroelastic model of the turbine
• Manage turbine controller tuning and development
• Perform required checks of turbine and controller
• Support turbine tower design
• Monitor, support and verify the ILA
• Coordinate with external contractors related to turbine model and controller
• Participate in technical meetings with clients
• Provide support to Offshore Wind business unit activities, including advanced and non-conventional structural analyses and numerical simulations
• Prepare comprehensive, high quality industry standard technical reports

Qualifications

• Education: Chartered Engineer (Engineering Degree - Aeronautical preferred)
• Experience: 10-15 years in offshore wind design covering both floating and fixed substructures
• Technical skills: knowledge of codes and standards including DNV and IEC, turbine design, WTG.
• IT skills: experience with engineering software (OrcaFlex, Bladed, Fast) and Microsoft 365.
