AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced Principal Project Manager to lead the Airfield and Civils (Lot 2) framework within a live aviation environment. This role is suited to an individual with a strong civil engineering background and a proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects, combined with the leadership capability to drive programme delivery and build a high performing team.
Responsibilities- Lead the delivery and performance of the Airfield & Civils (Lot 2) framework across multiple concurrent projects.
- Act as senior client interface, providing leadership across key stakeholder groups including contractors, operators and consultants.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering civil and airfield infrastructure works.
- Establish, lead and grow a civils focused delivery team within the aviation portfolio, including recruitment and capability development.
- Take ownership of programme, cost, risk and quality outcomes across the framework.
- Drive integration between design, commercial and construction teams to ensure coordinated delivery.
- Oversee construction stage coordination within live airfield environments, resolving complex technical and operational challenges.
- Provide governance, reporting and assurance across projects in line with internal and client requirements.
- Lead on procurement strategy, contract management and commercial performance (NEC or similar frameworks).
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with airside operational and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to business planning, resource forecasting and framework growth initiatives.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards) preferred.
- Extensive experience at Senior/Principal level delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong track record in aviation, transport or similarly complex infrastructure environments.
- Proven experience managing contractors and stakeholders within live construction environments (essential).
- Demonstrated leadership in building and managing high performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in NEC or similar contract frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to lead delivery within high pressure, operationally constrained environments.
