About the roleAs a Principal Network Engineer/Architect at the Home Office, you will lead the design, implementation, and operation of the Data Centre Network and edge capabilities supporting critical systems and services. You will oversee development of secure, scalable network solutions, integrating hybrid architectures across on-premises, private, and public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
You will manage third-party suppliers, ensure security by design, and develop strategic roadmaps for Data Centre technologies. Your role involves stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and ensuring best practices in network engineering and security compliance.
Main responsibilities- Lead design, implementation, and support of network solutions
- Embed security controls into solutions
- Investigate and resolve network issues, prevent future problems
- Establish and enforce standards and procedures
- Provide expert advice on testing and network improvements
This role may require out-of-hours work and occasional travel to other locations.
Candidate requirementsUK residency for the past 5 years and security clearance.
Experience with:
- CCIE or equivalent in Routing & Switching, Data Centre, or Service Provider
- Core network concepts: routing, switching, firewalling, load balancing, security
- Managing complex tech projects within time, cost, and quality constraints
- Leading network design/operations in large organizations
Knowledge of SFIA framework and ability to demonstrate technical skills during selection.
