Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Principal Engineer specialising in Safety & Environmental Engineering (Product Safety). This is a contract role with a focus on ensuring product safety within the submarine solutions sector. The position offers remote working with occasional on-site requirements at the Barrow site.
- Ensuring product safety and compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations
- Conducting safety assessments and hazard analysis
- Developing and implementing safety and environmental management systems
- Liaising with stakeholders to ensure safety requirements are met
- Providing technical guidance on safety-related matters
- Preparing safety case reports and documentation
- Continuously monitoring safety performance and implementing improvements
- Collaborating with teams to integrate safety considerations into the design and development processes
- Experience in safety and environmental engineering within the defence sector
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to submarine solutions
- Proficiency in conducting safety assessments and hazard analysis
- Strong understanding of safety management systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Contract Duration: 12 months
- Location: Remote with occasional on-site requirements in Barrow
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Security Clearance: SC required
