Job Description

We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal EICA Engineer based at Maple Lodge. Hybrid working is available with an expectation to attend sites on a regular basis.

You will report directly to the RDL, and your role will be to provide superior quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. This includes considering all costs associated with design and construction, such as design time, materials, erection, and impact on other disciplines.
  • Utilize standard practices wherever possible.
  • Maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide estimates and feedback for the proposals department.
  • Follow procedures and processes to ensure departmental development.
  • Assist in developing and reviewing procedures and processes.
  • Coordinate designs with all disciplines, internal and external, to ensure integrated contract execution.
  • Maintain files and records throughout contract durations.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, recognizing it as key to achieving other objectives.
  • Maintain a personal development plan.
  • Assist in supervising and developing staff.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Minimize waste from departmental activities.
  • Ensure designs consider environmental issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with all health and safety requirements.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
  • Experience managing staff in designing relevant water and sewage treatment plant disciplines.
  • Full membership of a professional institution, Chartered Engineer.

Preferable qualifications:

  • Relevant discipline engineering degree.

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant discipline engineering HND with extensive experience.
  • Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
  • Good knowledge of water treatment aspects: mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
  • Flexible mindset with ability to process large amounts of data.
  • Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Driving license.

Desirable:

  • Relevant engineering master's degree.
