Are you an experienced ecologist looking to take the lead on nationally significant projects while mentoring the next generation of specialists? Our client is looking for a Principal Ecologist to join their growing team and play a key role in delivering high-profile infrastructure, renewable energy and development projects across the UK.

As a Principal Ecologist, you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio, leading protected species surveys, ecological assessments and complex project delivery from early feasibility through to construction and post-consent. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, helping clients navigate ecological constraints while delivering practical, sustainable solutions.

This is an opportunity to influence both projects and people. Alongside producing and reviewing high-quality technical work-including Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, mitigation strategies, Ecological Management Plans and protected species licence applications-you'll mentor junior ecologists, build strong client relationships and support business development.

You will ideally hold one or more Natural England protected species survey licences, be a Full Member of CIEEM (CEcol/CEnv desirable), and have a proven track record of managing projects, clients and budgets. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential, as is a full UK driving licence.
