The successful applicant will be based in our Newcastle office and support our existing established civil & structural engineering team and will be responsible for leading the design development process, interacting with clients, approving authorities and the wider SLR team to deliver schemes to programme and budget. You will be fully supported by both senior and junior staff to ensure that you can deliver high quality work and progress your career to the next level.SLR's Engineering team boasts a wealth of expertise across the European region (and wider global business) within diverse sectors including water, mining, waste, power, infrastructure, and the built environment. You will act as a project manager, lead designer, write proposals and manage clients and the interface with clients. You will lead on projects and will be expected to mentor and coach other engineers within the team and support the sector and client leads across the business. Within SLR, as a multidisciplinary consultancy with a "one team" culture at its core, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other disciplines across the business including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water and Environmental Specialist Services Groups. We are looking for the following skills: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (minimum requirement); Proficient in the design of highway and drainage infrastructure using digital tools such as AutoCAD, Civils 3D,PDS, MicroDrainage and Causeway Flow; Experience in producing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports and in the application of SuDS features; Experience in the preparation of highway designs to local and national standards and progressing S278 / 38 agreements to enable adoption of the works; Experience in detailed design of drainage networks and progressing schemes to achieve adoption through S106 agreement; Working knowledge of design codes and standards; Confident working on their own or as part of a multidisciplinary team; An excellent communicator who can collaborate with a variety of colleagues and is comfortable attending Client facing meeting; Experience in the production of Technical Reports; Someone who can analyse problems, create innovative solutions, and sound decisions in a competitive and commercial environment; Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and collaborative design team environments; Keen attention to detail and the drive to keep learning; Ability to mentor junior engineers. Must have a full, current, driving licence valid in the UK.
