About the teamThe Procurement & Supply team within Corporate Services supports the Royal Women's Hospital by delivering compliant, efficient and value for money procurement of goods and services that enable high quality patient care. The team manages end to end procurement, contract and supplier management. A strong focus is placed on governance, probity, sustainability and social procurement in line with Victorian public sector requirements and the Women's strategic priorities.
About the roleThe Procurement Principal ensures compliant, efficient, and value-for-money acquisition of goods and services that support high quality patient care. The role oversees sourcing, tendering, contracting, supplier performance, and operational purchasing, while driving continuous improvement, sustainability, and social procurement outcomes aligned to hospital strategy and Victorian public sector requirements. A regular day will see you:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with hospital operational and financial goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and select vendors/suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, compliance, and sustainability criteria.
- Ensure procurement activities align with governance frameworks, risk controls and compliance obligations.
- Prepare regular procurement reports (e.g. spend analysis, cost savings, supplier performance, contract status)
- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years demonstrated experience within a high-level procurement position.
- Strong commercial acumen, budget awareness, cost control mindset and ability to deliver value for money.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the clinical, operational, administrative and supply chain teams.
- Skilled in managing high pressure situations and shifting priorities.
- Able to work effectively individually and as part of a team.
