Job Description

Our welcoming Gateshead primary school is looking to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our experienced team this September.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school day.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging classroom activities.
  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups.
  • Encourage children's confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Help prepare learning materials and maintain an organised classroom.
  • Support children with varying abilities to ensure they achieve their full potential.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, welcoming learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other professionals to support pupil progress.
The Ideal Candidate

You will:

  • Have experience working with children within a school, nursery or childcare setting.
  • Have a genuine passion for primary education.
  • Be proactive, patient and enthusiastic.
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Be committed to safeguarding children and promoting their wellbeing.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
