Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA who is confident taking responsibility for a class?
Are you looking for a long-term opportunity where you can develop your experience, build strong relationships with pupils and become a valued member of a school team?
Academics are currently recruiting for an experienced Primary HLTA to join a welcoming school in Thurrock, starting as soon as possible on a long-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or confident Teaching Assistant who enjoys leading learning, taking class responsibility and making a real difference to pupils' progress.
As a Primary HLTA, you will play an important role within the school, working closely with class teachers and the wider support team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility for classes during planned teacher absence
- Covering lessons across the school
- Delivering engaging and purposeful learning activities
- Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Leading whole-class, small-group and 1:1 activities
- Following lesson plans and adapting activities where appropriate
- Managing classroom behaviour confidently and consistently
- Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
- Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Working closely with teachers to ensure continuity of learning
- Supporting assessment and providing feedback on pupil progress
- Helping to maintain a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
- At least 3 months' experience covering classes within a primary school
- Previous experience working as an HLTA, experienced TA or cover supervisor
- Confidence taking responsibility for a class without the class teacher present
- Experience across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- The ability to follow and deliver planned lessons
- A calm, confident and adaptable approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Experience supporting children with SEND would be highly desirable

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
