Primary Engineer (CDAE)

Hitachi Energy is hiring a Primary Engineer (CDAE) to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about applications engineering, with attention to detail and the ability to prepare documentation and diagrams. The primary responsibility is the technical design and installation of Substation Layouts for projects ranging from 400kV to 11kV.

Requirements: Must be CDAE authorised.

Note: This position is hybrid (2-3 days in our Birmingham office). We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide substation layouts and detail diagrams following UK standards and processes.
2. Develop technical specifications and material schedules for primary equipment.
3. Prepare conductor force calculations.
4. Review and approve project documentation.
5. Deliver work packages within scope, schedule, and budget, providing comments on delegated works.
6. Support tender scheme development and project scope documentation.
7. Create engineering time estimates and support forecasting.
8. Participate in design and hazard review meetings.
9. Provide technical support onsite when needed.

Candidate Profile

• HNC/HND in a related engineering field.
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11kV).
• Strong teamwork, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Proficient in Windows, MS Office, and AutoCAD.
• Experience in the electricity supply industry.
• Understanding of DNO / National Grid standards and drawing practices.
