Join Us as a Preconstruction Engineer - Shape the Future of Energy with the Civil Works Alliance
Are you an experienced engineer eager to make a lasting impact on the energy landscape? We are seeking a talented M&T Preconstruction Engineer to join our team at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) and contribute to the development of Sizewell C-a 3.2-gigawatt power station destined to power 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity for decades.
In this pivotal role, based at the SZC Project Office or in London, you'll lead preconstruction activities essential for the Earthworks scope, a critical part of our Civil Works Programme. You'll collaborate with our skilled team to develop strategies that ensure delivery is safe, cost-effective, on schedule, and of the highest quality. Your expertise will be vital in coordinating with various stakeholders, managing the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process, and preparing the site for construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the preconstruction work scope document and interface with other programme elements.
- Develop site mobilisation strategies and execution plans alongside Project Managers.
- Conduct readiness reviews and handover materials, ensuring all stakeholders are effectively engaged.
- Track progress against milestones and budgets, providing reports to key stakeholders.
- Maintain dialogue with delivery teams to support effective mobilisation and construction.
- Support monthly finance and commercial reviews, identifying risks and opportunities in coordination with the Risk Team.
Competencies Required:
- Proven track record of delivering projects in a technically complex, dynamic environment, ideally in the nuclear energy sector.
- Strong skills in engineering design, contract management, procurement, and cost control.
- Ability to engage and influence diverse groups of stakeholders effectively.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to relationship building.
- Solid numerical and analytical capabilities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development in management skills.
At CWA, diversity and inclusion are key. We welcome professionals from all backgrounds who can bring unique perspectives to the table. If you're ready to drive change and contribute to a sustainable energy future, don't miss this opportunity.
