A rare opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Assessment Staff Nurse with proven experience to work within the Pre-Assessment Team within our private hospital.
Our department offers pre-operative assessment, consultant led clinics and minor procedures across multiple specialties such as gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, general surgery, ENT and Urology.
We are looking for an exceptional pre-assessment nurse with excellent clinic skills in minor procedures and diagnostics. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must.
The position will be varied shifts between the hours of 08.00 - 20.30 Monday to Saturday. Flexibility is required.

Main duties of the jobWork within The Pre-Assessmentservices within our department
Pre assess patients face to face, over the telephone and using onlinepre assessment packages.
Screen and assess patients using nationally recognised standards.
Ensure a high standard of a patient care is maintained in a clean andsafe environment.

Job responsibilitiesJOBPURPOSE
To work under the direction of the Pre-AssessmentSister, Outpatient Sister and Outpatient Manager.
To be responsible for the provision ofhigh quality individualised care to patients whilst their Pre-AdmissionAssessment is undertaken.
To actively participate and contributeto the running of the Pre Assessment Unit.
To work as a team member within the work environmentcarrying out tasks involving the direct/indirect care of the patient ensuringthat appropriate direction, supervision and control is used when in charge ofthe shift & junior members of the team.
To practice in accordance with the NMCcodes, The Code (2015) and any other mandatory or organisational standards.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
Work to eliminateavoidable infection by working according to infection control policies
Demonstrate consistent high standard of handhygiene practice and promote standards to staff, visitors and patients
Deliveroptimum patient care at all times
Prepare and maintain clinics,ensuring that they run to time
Undertake patient preassessmentscompetently and confidently utilising our digital pre assessment packagesand adhering to ASA scoring and current guidelines surrounding preoperativeassessment
Competentlyperform, ECGs, venepuncture, observations and all required diagnostics inrelation to pre op assessment
Obtainresults for all diagnostic tests and escalate as required
Maintain stock levels in consultingrooms & clinical area and order any stock requirement
Liaise with junior staff who assistin pre op assessment clinics
Maintain pharmacy & pathologystock levels & order weekly using relevant order form
Demonstrate knowledge and skillsregarding equipment, instruments used in clinics, cleaning, maintainingand storage of such equipment adhering to strict IPC and decontaminationprotocols
Maintain good relationships anddevelop good communication skills within the department
Treat all matters relating topatients and other staff as confidential
Learn to adopt an attitude offlexibility in order to be a team member
Deal carefully with patientspersonal property.
Ensure privacy & dignity at alltimes
Ensure that professional knowledgeis regularly updated by participating in CPD & pass info gained on to junior staffmembers
To participate in the checking of medicationsand the resuscitation trolley
To participate in the ophthalmologyclinic monthly in OPD
Tobe cost aware and utilise equipment and resources in an appropriate manner
Checkingof stock levels of consumables as required for each clinic
Tocontrol staffing budget by checking staff rota with clinic requirements eachevening & adjusting staff as necessary
Tobe aware of costs of consumables & budget carefully when ordering any newstock
To assist in the analysis of workingpractices and implement changes which will eliminate wasteful methods andunnecessary expense
BusinessDevelopment
Toassist the Outpatient Department to continue to grow the business, increasingrevenue and developing new services in partnership with our stakeholders
Tosuggest new ideas/treatments that could improve financial performance for theunit
Quality
Participatein regular audits of nursing standards and practice
Usethe clinical incident reporting procedure for reporting untoward incidents-DATIX and In phase
Assistin the investigation of complaints in relation to patient care, reportingto the OPD Manager
Complywith COSHH regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act
To participate in staff PersonalDevelopment Discussions and the identification of personal needs and set andevaluate personal objectives
Toparticipate in in-house training sessions and attend meetings and discussionswhen required
To ensurethat all Hospital policies, local policies and legal requirements relating toclinical care and health and safety are complied with
Participatein the annual review of departmental policies and procedures to ensure thatthey reflect good practice. Worktowards retaining ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 accreditation also participatewith Investors in People
