Practitioner Psychologist - Autism/ ADHD Assessor

At Evolve Psychology Services, we empower clinicians with the tools and support they need to focus on delivering exceptional care to children, young people, and their families. You will join a passionate, multidisciplinary team specialising in high-quality, evidence-based autism and ADHD assessments, delivered through both NHS funded and private pathways.

This hybrid role is based in our Exeter team and is available part time or full time, with a minimum commitment of three days a week. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will contribute to comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments, helping to ensure timely and accurate diagnoses that lead to appropriate support and improved outcomes for families.

Founded in 2014 by Dr Laura Powling, Evolve Psychology is a national independent service that offers NHS funded assessments across the UK. We are clinician led, fully registered with HCPC, and affiliated with the British Psychological Society. Our multidisciplinary team of over 100 experts specialises in autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia for children, young people, and adults. We prioritise evidence based, person centred care and support clinicians to contribute to training, research, and neuro ininclusive initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Conducting face to face structured observations as part of the neurodevelopmental assessment process.
  • Conducting remote developmental history interviews with parents and carers via Zoom.
  • Participating collaboratively in peer MDT diagnostic discussions, supported by senior clinicians where needed.
  • Delivering clear, compassionate feedback to families.
  • Producing accurate clinical reports, including diagnostic formulations, with the help of our AI assisted tools.
  • Working efficiently to meet service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Delivering clinical supervision (where applicable).
  • Additional duties may be added based on service needs, such as quality checking reports, consulting with colleagues, or contributing to service development projects.
  • Able to travel to the clinic base to conduct in person assessments (hybrid only).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must hold HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Educational).
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience conducting diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD in children and young people.
  • Strong understanding of differential diagnosis in neurodevelopmental presentations.
  • In depth knowledge of DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for autism and ADHD.
  • Trained and experienced in the use of diagnostic tools such as ADOS 2, ADI R, etc.
  • Effective time management and caseload organisation skills, with the ability to meet clinical deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and participate in collaborative diagnostic discussions.
  • Highly developed written language skills for producing high quality clinical reports.
  • Well developed communication skills with children, young people, and their families, ensuring compassionate, clear, and professional interactions.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Person Specification
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
