About the Role
This position blends technical accounts and tax expertise with people leadership and client management.
You will look after a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, ensuring accounts, tax compliance and advisory work are delivered efficiently and effectively. As Assistant Manager, you'll also support the development of junior team members and gradually take on increasing responsibility as you work toward a future Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Reviewing year-end accounts prepared by the team
- Reviewing corporation tax computations and returns
- Reviewing personal tax returns where required
- Ensuring work is delivered accurately and within deadlines
- Acting as a key point of contact for client queries
- Supporting, training and mentoring junior team members
- Assisting with workflow management and team planning
- Identifying opportunities to offer clients additional services
- Supporting Partners and Directors with more complex client matters
About You
You will be technically strong, confident working with clients, and enjoy supporting others. You're likely already working as a Senior or Assistant Manager within practice and are now looking for the next step in your career.
Ideally, you will have:
- ACA / ACCA / CTA qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience in accounts preparation and tax within practice
- Solid knowledge of UK accounting standards (FRS102 / FRS105)
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
