GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for a skilled, patient, and enthusiastic Practical Tutor to work within an educational setting in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical or vocational experience who can engage learners through hands on activities and help them build confidence, independence, and employability skills.

About the Role

As a Practical Tutor, you will support learners through practical, hands on learning activities, helping them develop technical skills while also encouraging positive attitudes towards education and future employment. You will create a structured and supportive learning environment and adapt your approach to suit individual abilities and needs.

Key Responsibilities of the Practical Tutor:
  • Deliver engaging practical and vocational learning activities appropriate to learners' abilities and development.
  • Demonstrate practical techniques clearly and support learners as they develop hands on skills.
  • Encourage learners to build confidence, independence, teamwork, and employability skills.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment during practical activities.
  • Adapt activities and teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Monitor learner progress and work with colleagues to support their educational and personal development.
As the Ideal Practical Tutor, You Should Have:
  • Relevant practical, vocational, or industry experience in a suitable trade or hands on field.
  • Previous experience delivering practical training, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting young people is desirable.
  • Strong practical knowledge and the ability to demonstrate techniques clearly.
  • A patient, encouraging, and adaptable approach to working with learners.
  • Good communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop practical skills and prepare for future employment.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an up to date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
  • Have recent experience working with children or young people, where applicable.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
