Job Title: Power Platform Developer
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (12 months)
Location: Fully Remote -occasional, pre-agreed onsite days at a local authority in South East England (just outside London)
Start Date: 1st Week of January
Pay Rate: £27.71 per hour (Inside IR35)
Hiring Manager: Deputy Business Manager
Delivery Framework: Scrum (2-week sprints against a defined product backlog)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Platform Developer with demonstrable, hands-on expertise across the Microsoft low-code ecosystem. You will play a leading role in enhancing and delivering an advanced Adult Social Care (ASC) Rostering System with auto-scheduling capabilities. The work builds on an MVP released in early 2024 and will mature it into a scalable, reliable, and operationally robust Back Office application used across Adult Social Care services.

Working as part of an Agile Scrum team, you will take full ownership of development deliverables across the entire SDLC, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Service Leads, and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of enhancements to the ASC Auto-Scheduling Rostering System using:
    • Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-Driven)
    • Power Automate
    • Dataverse
    • SharePoint Online
  • Extend the existing MVP with new features, performance improvements, and functional refinements.
  • Implement robust logging, alerting, and notification mechanisms using standard Azure monitoring tools.
  • Build and optimise automated workflows, data integrations, and app logic.
  • Contribute to Agile delivery ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure developed solutions are secure, supportable, and fully aligned with local authority governance.
  • Produce technical documentation, support materials, and deployment guidance.
  • Own the development process from requirements analysis to build, test, release, and operational handover.

Essential Skills & Experience (Demonstrable Evidence Required)

Candidates must provide clear, demonstrable experience-through portfolio examples, project summaries, or interview walk-throughs-covering:

  • Hands-on, commercial development using:
    • Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-Driven)
    • Power Automate (complex flows, integrations, exception handling)
    • Dataverse (data modelling, security, relational structures)
    • SharePoint Online (lists, integration patterns)
  • Proven ability to design scalable and maintainable solutions across the Power Platform ecosystem.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing operational monitoring using:
    • Azure Monitor
    • Application Insights
    • Logic App or Power Automate alerts
  • Strong capabilities in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimisation.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and delivering against a structured backlog.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership across the SDLC, and manage competing priorities.

Desirable/Advantageous Experience

  • Experience working with Local Authorities-especially within Adult Social Care-will earn a privilege and significantly strengthen your application.
  • Integration of CoPilot AI with Power Automate or Power Apps.
  • Exposure to rostering, scheduling, or workforce management systems.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines for Power Platform deployments.
  • Understanding of secure, scalable architecture patterns within Microsoft Azure.
