SETU is proud to announce that applications open on 15th June 2026 for the prestigious INNOVISION postdoctoral fellowship programme.
Led by SETU's Ocular Therapeutics Research Group, INNOVISION (Innovation in Vision Research Postdoctoral Training Network) is a project funded under the European Union's Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No . It will support a total of 12 world-class postdoctoral researchers to advance therapies and technologies addressing the global challenge of vision impairment.
The call will recruit up to six postdoctoral researchers and is open to international candidates.

INNOVISION is a €3.1 million Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND programme coordinated by SETU. The programme will recruit 12 postdoctoral fellows across two calls (6 researchers to be recruited each round). INNOVISION focuses on translational vision research, ocular drug delivery, medical devices, and public and patient involvement (PPI) in research.
Fellows will undertake cutting-edge research, supported by a network of academic, clinical, industry, and patient advocacy partners.
Fellows will be employed by one of the programme's recruiting organisations (SETU or University of Iceland), with opportunities for international, intersectoral, and/or interdisciplinary secondments lasting 3-10 months.
Research AreasApplications are welcome from candidates with expertise relevant to vision research and related fields. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged. Relevant focus areas include but are not limited to:
- Pharmaceutical sciences and drug delivery
- Biomedical engineering and medical devices
- Cell and molecular biology
- Ophthalmology and visual sciences
- Data science, AI and health technologies
- Public and patient involvement in research
- Any relevant field that fits within the programme aims
- Duration: 30 months of full time employment
- Salary: Competitive MSCA-aligned salary including mobility allowance (and family allowance if eligible) - remuneration details as follows:
- Living and mobility allowance of €5 400 per month ( per year), before all tax and social deductions in the host country
- If family allowance included, monthly remuneration €5 900 ( per annum), before all tax and social deductions in the host country
- Applicants should be familiar with the tax and required social deductions of the host country of their choice
- Training: Advanced research training, career development, and transferable skills training. A budget of €1 500 per month is available to support training, research consumables, and travel.
- Secondments: Intersectoral, international, and interdisciplinary secondments of 3-10 months
- Supervision: Academic or expert industry supervision with access to a network of mentors and advisors across disciplines
- Networking: Opportunities to collaborate with academic institutions, SMEs, CROs, hospitals, patient advocacy organisations, and other fellows within the programme
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) or have at least four years of full time equivalent research experience
- Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, study, etc.) in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the call deadline (MSCA mobility rule)
- Applicants must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
