Postal Delivery Driver

Pertemps is recruiting Postal Delivery Drivers in Sunderland on behalf of Royal Mail, starting towards the end of October. This temporary contract pays £13.69 per hour, with various shifts across Monday to Friday plus weekend availability. Each day begins at the local delivery office, sorting and loading mail before heading out. Duties include using a handheld device for navigation and signature capture, delivering letters and parcels on foot or by vehicle, and walking up to eight miles daily. Applicants must lift mail bags and parcels weighing up to 16kg. Customer service skills and the ability to work independently outdoors are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Start your shift at the local delivery office to sort and load your deliveries
• Use a handheld device for signature capture and route navigation
• Deliver letters and parcels by foot and/or vehicle - walking up to 8 miles per day
• Lift and carry mail bags (up to 16kg) and parcels (up to 20kg)
• Use delivery trolleys when required

Requirements

• Full UK manual driving licence (maximum 6 points; clean licence preferred) Need to have held your license for 6 months.
• Previous delivery or driving experience is beneficial but not essential
• Excellent time management and customer service skills
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
