A clean, valid UK driving licence is essential criterion for all applicants.

Main duties of the jobThe Portering department provides a range of services including patient movements, mortuary activity, transportation of equipment, medical records, handling of medical gases and post room duties. Tasks will involve driving Trust vehicles.
Applicants should be able to undertake shift and weekend working at either of our hospital sites and be able to meet the physical demands of the post.
All new appointments to Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are subject to a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.
Job responsibilitiesResponsibilities include: transporting patients, equipment, and medical records; assisting with mortuary duties; transporting medical gases; performing post room duties; and driving Trust vehicles under contract.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications- Full, clean UK manual driving licence
- NVQ in customer care/support services (or working towards)
- Health and safety training
- Lifting and moving training
- Fire safety training
- Basic life skills
- Health and safety awareness
- Portering service experience in a people oriented environment
- Experience in a hospital or similar environment
- Driving passenger transport or delivery vehicles
- Knowledge of one or more of the Trust sites
- Knowledge of NHS plans, targets and initiatives
- Basic computer skills
- Able to contribute to the movement of patients and equipment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically fit
- Flexibility towards working arrangements
- Caring and understanding approach
- Calm under pressure and in difficult situations
- Interest in self development
- Positive outlook
- Clean, full, valid manual UK driving licence
- Enhanced DBS will be undertaken following interview for successful candidates
