Job Description

Are you passionate about campaigning for social change? Do you enjoy translating policy into engaging communications? Join us atMencap, where your passion for campaigning and communication can make a real difference. We are looking for a dynamic and creative Policy Communications Manager who will work on campaigns that drive forward political change for the 1.5 million people with a learning disability living in the UK. You will work with us on some of the biggest barriers impacting the lives of people with a learning disability, from benefit cuts to health inequality. This is a full time(37.5 hours per week) on a fixed term until March 2027. We are flexible with your work location, but there may be some occasional travel needed to the London office. Your Key responsibilities as a Policy Communications Manager

  • Use your communications skills to bring our campaigns to life through Mencap channels
  • Turn complex policy into effective campaigning communications that resonate with multiple audiences
  • Develop and coordinate communications plans to engage with audiences and stakeholders
  • Lead content creation across social media, website, emails, blogs and graphics
  • Coordinate quarterly reporting and video content for our Omaze funded work
Do you have the experience to be our Policy Communications Manager?
  • A creative approach to translating complex policy into engaging content, particularly through social media and storytelling
  • At least 2 years experience working in communications to campaign for political or social change
  • A proactive approach and strong initiative to spot content opportunities, secure sign-off quickly and run with an idea
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
