Job Description
Policy Advisor - Weddings & Marriage 
Position: HEO level, permanent, cross government, under the Civil, Family, Tribunals and Administration of Justice Directorate.
Location: 102 Petty France, London (hybrid model with 5 Wellington Place Leeds). Remote work limited to the UK only.
Working pattern: full time, part time or job share.
Role OverviewThe role is part of a major reform to modernise marriage law. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and advancing policy proposals for weddings and marriage law.
- Engaging with stakeholders across the government, including the Home Office and MHCLG.
- Co ordinating with registry services, religious groups and frontline practitioners to gather operational insights.
- Managing a high volume of work and delivering briefings to ministers and senior officials.
- Participating in pre legislative scrutiny and drafting primary or secondary legislation.
- Strong relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working in a policy environment and navigating government processes.
- Excellent written and oral briefing skills.
- Organisational skills to manage multiple assignments at pace.
- Experience of working on primary or secondary legislation.
- Delivering at Pace.
- Communicating and Influencing.
