A large Local Authority who are going through a major transformation and organisational change programme, are seeking an experienced PMO Lead to play a critical role in bringing structure, governance and visibility to a complex portfolio of change. This is a high-profile opportunity to support the successful delivery of significant organisational transformation within a fast-paced public sector environment.
This is a hands-on PMO role responsible for managing the central PMO function, providing governance, reporting and coordination across multiple workstreams. You will ensure senior stakeholders have clear visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, milestones and delivery outcomes.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders while also managing the day-to-day PMO activities required to keep a large transformation programme on track.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate the central PMO function for a major transformation and organisational change programme.
- Establish and maintain programme governance, reporting processes and delivery controls.
- Facilitate and host weekly stand-ups and programme update sessions.
- Produce dashboards, governance packs and executive-level reporting.
- Manage programme plans, RAID logs, actions, milestones and dependencies.
- Provide clear updates on programme progress, pipeline activity and delivery risks.
- Support project and programme leads to maintain momentum and accountability.
- Maintain programme documentation and ensure consistent reporting across workstreams.
- Support the successful delivery of organisational redesign, service transformation and restructuring activity.
- Proven PMO experience supporting complex transformation, change or restructuring programmes within the Public Sector.
- Local Government experience is highly desirable, with an understanding of the challenges and complexities of delivering change within a local authority environment.
- Strong programme or project delivery experience within Local Government, Central Government or wider public sector organisations.
- Experience working within large, complex organisations undergoing significant transformation.
- Strong experience in PMO governance, reporting, planning, controls and delivery assurance.
- Experience managing programme administration, reporting and stakeholder communications.
- Ability to operate effectively within busy, fast-paced and changing environments.
- Experience managing multiple priorities, workstreams and stakeholder groups.
- Strong PMO governance and reporting capability.
- Excellent organisation, coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to create high-quality reports, dashboards and programme updates.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing risks, issues, dependencies and actions.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and programme stand-ups.
- Comfortable balancing senior stakeholder engagement with hands on PMO delivery.
- Ability to bring structure and visibility to complex transformation environments.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint (Power BI desirable).
- Experience supporting organisational redesign, workforce restructuring or operating model transformation.
- PRINCE2, MSP, P3O, MoP or equivalent qualifications.
