Test Engineer
Location: Clevedon, North Somerset (own transport required)
Contract Type: Temporary ongoing
Holiday: 25 days + 8 bank holidays (pro rata, accrued)
Start Date: Immediate
Shift Pattern
PM Shift: £23.89 - £24.91 per hour (including shift premium, depending on experience)
Overtime Rates:
Pertemps are currently recruiting for Test Engineers on behalf of Edwards Vacuum based in Clevedon.
This role will support the testing, validation, and fault-finding of advanced vacuum systems and associated equipment. You will be responsible for carrying out functional and performance testing, diagnosing faults, analysing test data, and ensuring products meet the required quality and performance standards prior to customer delivery.
Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams, you will play a key role in supporting new product introduction, continuous improvement activities, and maintaining Edwards Vacuum's high standards of quality and reliability.

PM Shift: £23.89 - £24.91 per hour (including shift premium, depending on experience)

- 1.75x standard hourly rate for weekday overtime
- 2.0x standard hourly rate for weekend overtime
- Weekly or Monthly Pay available
- £250 gift card after successful completion of 4-month probation
- £500 gift card after 12 months service

Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Engineering Duties
- Carry out functional and performance testing of vacuum systems and assemblies
- Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and measurement systems
- Perform fault finding and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system issues
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Record, analyse, and report test results accurately
- Complete test procedures and documentation in line with company standards
- Support product validation and qualification activities
- Identify root causes of failures and support corrective actions
- Assist with improvements to test methods, processes, and equipment
- Ensure products meet quality, safety, and performance requirements
- Work in line with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and production teams
- Support investigations into product issues and non-conformances
- Maintain accurate records and complete documentation
- Follow technical instructions, procedures, and company processes
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Essential
- Previous experience in an engineering test, manufacturing, or production environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience with fault finding and problem solving
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to analyse technical information and test results
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Experience testing mechanical, electrical, or vacuum systems
- Knowledge of pressure testing, leak testing, or vacuum technology
- Experience using test equipment and measurement instrumentation
- Experience with data analysis or automated test systems
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls
