Are you a qualified Plumber with strong domestic experience looking for a secure, long-term opportunity with a respected public sector organisation?A leading public sector university in Belfast is looking for an experienced Plumber to join its Estates and Facilities team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a varied estate, including student accommodation, academic buildings, offices and other facilities, carrying out both planned and reactive plumbing maintenance.
Strong domestic plumbing experience is essential for this role.
The Role
As part of the Estates team, you will help maintain safe, reliable and compliant plumbing and water systems across the University estate.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive plumbing repairs.
- Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems, pipework, fixtures and associated equipment.
- Carrying out plumbing repairs within domestic and residential accommodation.
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently and safely.
- Maintaining hot and cold water systems, sanitaryware and associated equipment.
- Supporting minor works, refurbishment and improvement projects.
- Responding to emergency plumbing issues when required.
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant health & safety requirements and water regulations.
- Completing accurate maintenance records using electronic job management systems.
- Working alongside other estate trades and external contractors.
- Participating in an on-call rota to provide emergency out-of-hours cover when required.
About You
We're looking for a skilled, reliable and practical Plumber who takes pride in their work and can work confidently across a busy estate.
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent qualification.
- Proven domestic plumbing experience - essential.
- Experience carrying out plumbing repairs, maintenance and fault-finding.
- Experience working within a commercial, residential, industrial or public sector environment.
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider Estates team.
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours/on-call rota when required.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a university, healthcare, housing, commercial or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of Water Regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with heating systems.
- General building maintenance experience.
- Experience working across a large or complex property estate.
- Familiarity with CAFM or electronic job management systems.
