An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Specialist (Retail Focus) to join a growing and forward-thinking planning consultancy with offices across the UK.
This role is ideal for a planner with a strong background in retail-led development, looking to work on a varied portfolio of projects while contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic and ambitious team.
You will play a key role in delivering planning advice and managing projects across a range of retail and town centre developments, working closely with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing retail-focused planning applications from inception to determination
Providing strategic planning advice to clients across the retail sector
Preparing high-quality planning statements, reports and supporting documents
Advising on town centre uses, retail policy, and sequential / impact assessments
Engaging with local planning authorities, stakeholders and consultants
Supporting business development and building client relationships
Contributing to wider project teams on mixed-use and regeneration schemes
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working on retail planning projects within consultancy or local authority
A strong understanding of town centre and retail planning policy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively
A proactive and commercially aware approach
Ideally, you will also be:
MRTPI Chartered or working towards Chartership
Experienced in preparing or advising on retail impact assessments and planning strategy
