Job Description
Overview

We are looking for an entry grade Planning Advisor to join the Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Sustainable Places Team.

Full time or part time, job share, compressed hours available. Working arrangements are hybrid with office visits once a week in Lincoln or Kettering. Some travel to other sites. Flexible hours are encouraged.

The role supports the Environment Agency's interaction with the Town & Country Planning process, managing planning consultations with local authorities and developers to contribute to environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and administrative support so the team can work efficiently and deliver high quality outcomes.
  • Support responses to lower risk statutory planning consultations and pre planning enquiries.
  • Work with internal teams to gather timely and high quality advice to influence planning decisions.
  • Embrace new ways of working to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Support the administration of the chargeable advice service.
  • Help to provide a clear and positive planning service to customers.
Qualifications and skills
  • A willingness to learn new things and take on new information quickly.
  • Strong customer service, communication and relationship building skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management, organisational skills and the ability to respond positively to changing and competing priorities.
  • Self motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a drive to identify and try new ways of working.
  • Understanding of environmental issues.
  • Understanding of the UK town and country planning system.
  • Ability to influence others and contribute to discussions.
  • Ability to consider information and support decision making where competing factors exist.
Development

Full training will be provided. The successful candidate may discuss undertaking further learning such as an apprenticeship or a Masters degree in planning, depending on interests and career goals.
