Job Description

FutureGen Recruitment is working with a specialist planning consultancy that operates nationally and offers genuine 100% home working. This role is ideal for planners seeking maximum flexibility, a better work-life balance, or an opportunity to transition into private consultancy without prior private-sector experience.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join a well-established consultancy that works on a distinctive sports & leisure portfolio of projects across the UK. The role can be appointed at Planner or Senior Planner level, depending on experience, and is fully remote with no requirement to attend an office.

Importantly, RTPI chartership is not required for this position, and applicants with solely Local Authority experience are very much encouraged to apply.

Who This Role Is For

Planners who need or value 100% remote working

Local Authority planners looking to move into consultancy

Those balancing family, location, or lifestyle commitments

Planners who want autonomy, trust, and meaningful project involvement

Key Responsibilities

Supporting and managing planning applications and related workstreams

Preparing planning statements, supporting documentation and assessments

Liaising with clients, consultees and local planning authorities

Providing planning advice across a range of development projects

About You

Experience at Planner or Senior Planner level

Background in Local Authority and/or private consultancy

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable managing your own workload remotely

No requirement to be MRTPI at this stage (support available for progression)

What's On Offer

100% work-from-home (permanent)

Competitive salary depending on experience

Supportive and flexible consultancy culture

Opportunity to gain private sector consultancy experience

Long-term career progression without sacrificing flexibility

This is a particularly strong option for planners who have felt restricted by office-based roles or who have struggled to move into consultancy due to lack of private-sector exposure.
