Job Description
Please note this is a fixed-term contract opportunity for a 12-month maternity cover.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for owning all aspects of the Blockage Hotspot (BHS) programme. Ensuring that the correct programme is created, tendered, managed and delivered to budget. You will ensure that all costs and payments for the programme are tracked, delivered and signed off in line with current methodologies.

What you'll be doing as a Planned Maintenance Optimisation Specialist-BHS

You will also be responsible for building excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders across finance, the field and our contractors. Ensuring that our contractors follow the correct Thames Water guidelines and ways of working for Health and Safety, reporting and behaviours.
Other accountabilities include:
  • Manage the Blockage Hotspot (BHS) programme to deliver the correct surveys and cleaning within the programme.
  • Ensure that the contractors understand the Thames Water requirements and work to the Thames Water guidelines, in particular for Health and Safety.
  • Work with the Operations Data - Capacity and Insights team to create the annual work pack for Blockage Hotspots.
  • Engage with Finance to obtain funding for the programme, raise relevant Purchase Orders and work with the Commercial and Contracts teams to ensure that all costs are controlled.
  • Create and maintain a quality management framework that can be used to report programme performance; identify trends in good and poor performance and data capture, to share best practices and develop solutions to address poor performance.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports to the Performance Manager, Maintenance and Data Quality, and other senior Managers as required.
  • Ensure that all people and HR processes are adhered to and support the Team to adhere to the same processes, also ensuring that regular performance and personal development meetings are held.

Base location: Hybrid - Slough-9 Cambridge Avenue (WCSC)

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours Mon-Fri.

Requirements for the role: Monthly travel to sites across the Thames Water patch based on business requirements.

What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you'll need are:
  • Planning and scheduling experience in a Waste Network environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Purchasing and Invoicing.
  • Experience of managing programmes of work.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good communication skills and stakeholder relationship-building skills.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, reasoning and negotiating skills problem-solving.
  • Good data analysis skills with high levels of attention to detail and accuracy.
