The Opportunity

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Piping Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team supporting nuclear infrastructure across two major UK defence sites. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering hybrid working and the chance to contribute to high-impact safety and design work in a regulated environment.
We would also welcome applications from these industries: oil & gas, marine engineering, defence, energy, and heavy industrial manufacturing.

This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Mechanical Engineer, Pipe Stress Analyst, Nuclear Engineer, Safety Case Engineer, Design Engineer, Structural Engineer, Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Technical Assessor.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Develop and maintain engineering design substantiation documents for nuclear infrastructure systems.
  • Lead and assess design changes and concessions, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Present technical justifications to internal safety committees and stakeholders.
  • Produce and review Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and procedures.
  • Provide expert engineering advice across multi-disciplinary teams and external partners.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
  • Proven experience in piping engineering within industrial or high-risk environments.
  • Strong understanding of British and European design standards and practices.
  • Skilled in pipe stress analysis and hazard-resistant design assessment.
  • Capable of producing robust technical documentation to support design modifications.
  • Minimum HNC in a relevant discipline; Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
