Job Description

Year 4 Teacher & Lower Key Stage 2 Phase Leader - Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Salary: London Fringe MPS - UPS (£34,397 - £52,488 per annum) or £169 - £263 per day (depending on experience). Contract Type: Full-Time (Temporary to Permanent opportunities available). Start Date: September 2026 (Immediate start available for the right candidate).

The Role

You will deliver high-quality teaching in Year 4 while providing leadership across Lower Key Stage 2. You will play a key role in driving pupil outcomes, supporting staff, and contributing to school improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning
    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the KS2 curriculum.
    • Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
    • Assess and track pupil progress effectively.
    • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Leadership Responsibilities
    • Lead and support the Lower KS2 phase to ensure high standards.
    • Work with senior leaders on school improvement priorities.
    • Support and develop colleagues within the phase.
    • Contribute to curriculum development and consistency.
  • Wider Contribution
    • Work closely with parents and carers to support learning.
    • Contribute to whole-school initiatives.
    • Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times.
Person Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • KS2 teaching experience, ideally in Lower KS2.
  • Strong classroom practice with proven pupil outcomes.
  • Leadership experience or readiness to step into a phase leadership role.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
