Pharmacy technician - Maternity Leave cover 
Full time Maternity contract
Location: Cork, Ireland
Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in safely and accurately dispensing medications to inpatients, outpatients, and hospital departments.
- Prepare, label, and distribute medications following hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and maintain ward and pharmacy stock levels, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating medications.
- Monitor medication expiry dates and ensure safe disposal of expired or damaged stock.
- Prepare and supply intravenous (IV) medications, chemotherapy, and aseptic products where appropriately trained and authorized.
- Maintain accurate medication records and update patient information on pharmacy information systems.
- Assist in medication reconciliation by collecting and documenting patients' medication histories.
- Support operation of automated dispensing cabinets and medication distribution systems.
- Process prescriptions and medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Participate in controlled drug management, including stock checks, record keeping, and compliance monitoring.
- Hold a Pharmacy Technician Certification or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Previous experience working in a pharmacy setting is required; hospital pharmacy experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of prescription medications, their indications, and safe handling procedures.
- Experience in inventory control, stock management, and medication storage practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and prescription preparation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and use initiative when required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills, prioritizing workload and meeting tight deadlines.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and service requirements.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and using pharmacy information systems.
