About this job

Bank/Cover PA for Academic holidays Ref: WC2044a. This role is to support a woman.

  • The candidate should be a woman, have a driver's licence (preferred), and be employed or self employed.
  • Hours per week: Holiday cover, mainly school holidays when the team is on leave or reduced hours; typical shifts are 2-8 hours long with 3-6 days available per week.
  • There may also be ad hoc or cover shifts during term time.

Are you a term time worker, student, or find yourself with time on your hands during the school holidays?

I have three fantastic PAs who make a positive difference, but they all work fewer hours in school holidays. I need a right person to join my team.

Are you kind, reliable, motivated, and able to get stuck in?

I am a mid 40s lady with health conditions that limit my ability to live my life as I choose. I am looking to add another PA to my existing team; the right support gives me back choice and freedom.

Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • Personal grooming
  • Moving and handling
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Administration
  • Shopping
  • Cooking
  • Transportation
  • Companionship

Shorter morning shifts are about getting up and ready for the day - tasks may include: making breakfast and drinks, tidying the kitchen, emptying the dishwasher, putting a wash on/putting clothes away, food prep such as chopping veggies or boiling eggs, shower help and hair wash (no toileting), setting up hobbies, unpacking food shop.

The longer shift is about assisting me to live my life both at home and out - helping with hobbies, DIY or household projects, supporting me while shopping, visiting somewhere or someone, attending a workshop, etc. Sometimes a shift is just about support and being present.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • I am a wheelchair user, so physical requirements are considered.
  • Respectable privacy and confidence.
  • Reliable with good timekeeping.
  • Able to follow instructions and work on own initiative.
  • Hygienic, tidy and organised.
  • Fit and healthy to undertake required duties.
  • Honest and cheerful.
  • Creative.
  • Speak and read English to a reasonable standard.
  • Comfortable with pets, especially dogs.
  • Non-smoker (due to medical reasons). Must avoid strong perfumes.
  • Driver with own car preferred; mileage paid at 45p per mile. Longer shifts require a driver.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
  • Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check required if needed.

Additional notes: all applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. If successful, you will be employed or engaged directly by the individual employer, not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self employed basis. If employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
