Job Description: We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family run 24/7 veterinary hospital in Leeds for a full time, permanent Veterinary Surgeon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking, well equipped practice with an outstanding clinical ethos, a highly experienced team, and a firm commitment to first class patient care.

Working Pattern
4 weekdays (Monday-Friday)
1 in 4 weekends - 10 hour shifts (Saturday & Sunday, primarily ECC)
No sole charge
30 minute consultations focused on sick pets and inpatient care

Team & Culture
70 colleagues, including 15 experienced vets
In house certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry
Supportive environment with structured CPD and mentoring

Candidate Profiles
Experienced UK based Veterinary Surgeons are invited to apply, particularly those with strength in one (or more) of the following areas:

1/ Consult Focused Medicine
Outstanding diagnostic skills and client communication

2/ Ophthalmology
The hospital is keen to develop its ophthalmology services further, given the large referral potential from the 19 practices that feed into the hospital's out-of-hours and existing referral services
The role can be tailored to include a mix of general consults alongside ophthalmology clinics and procedure days
A great opportunity for a vet with experience or a strong interest in ophthalmology to help shape and grow this service area

3/ Inpatient & Hospital Care / ECC
Ideal for vets with ECC, inpatient care, or imaging experience
Role combines consulting with hospital shifts in a dynamic caseload setting

Note: This post is not surgery focused; all surgical positions are currently filled. The role is unsuitable for recent graduates or those requiring substantial in house training.

Clinical Work & Procedures
As an advanced, well-equipped practice, the hospital routinely performs a wide range of procedures, including:
Oesophageal tube placements
Seldinger chest drain placements
Silicone abdominal peritoneal drains
Pigtail urinary catheterisation
TFAST and AFAST scans
Endoscopy
Negative pressure wound therapy
Urinary catheter placement

They also manage a diverse and complex caseload on a regular basis, including:
Surgical cases such as caesareans, pyometras, and exploratory laparotomies (including enterotomy and enterectomy)
Medical cases including Addisonian crises, ketoacidotic diabetic patients, and severe pancreatitis

This high-level clinical exposure offers an excellent opportunity for continued professional growth in both medicine and emergency care.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience
£1,500 CPD allowance per annum
