Job Description
People Partner Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with managers across the organisation to provide expert advice and guidance on the full range of employee relations matters, including attendance management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance management, flexible working and employment legislation.
  • Coach and support managers to confidently manage people issues in line with HR policies, employment law and organisational best practice, promoting a proactive and consistent approach to people management.
  • Lead and support organisational development initiatives focused on culture, employee engagement, leadership development, wellbeing, inclusion and diversity, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver learning and development programmes, workshops and manager briefings to enhance leadership capability and strengthen people management skills across the organisation.
  • Analyse workforce data and performance metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making and develop evidence based solutions to improve organisational performance and employee experience.
  • Build effective working relationships with Trade Union representatives, supporting consultation, negotiation and the successful delivery of organisational change initiatives.
  • Lead or support organisational change projects, including restructures, TUPE transfers, workforce reviews, job evaluation, and reviews of pay and benefits, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organisational policy.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, talent development and succession planning initiatives to support the Council's People Strategy and long term organisational objectives.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior HR colleagues, supporting professional development, workload management and the delivery of a high quality HR service.
  • Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures and guidance to ensure legal compliance, operational effectiveness and continuous service improvement.
  • Represent the People function in cross departmental meetings, projects and partnership working with internal stakeholders and external organisations.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practice and local government developments to ensure accurate and commercially focused advice is provided across the organisation.
