PCN Podiatrist

We are looking for a Podiatrist to provide clinicalexpertise and make decisions about the best course of action for patients' care. The role intends toshift workload from GPs, by providing patients with an appropriately trainedand certified healthcare professional to assess and manage their lower limb presentations.

Main duties of the jobResponsibilities also include; progress and requestinvestigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment pathway; usingdiagnostic services such as x-rays and blood test plus interpret and act onresults to aid diagnosis and the management plans of patients.
Other tasks expected of our Podiatrist are to provide self-managementadvice to patients (in ways that facilitate behavioural change), optimiseindividuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals andindependence, and that minimise the need for pharmacological interventions.

As a PCN Podiatrist,you will need to be is highly specialised and has considerable knowledge,clinical skills and experience at a senior level, in the management of patientswith lower limb pathology e.g. musculoskeletal, dermatological, neurologicaland vascular. You will provide effectiveand efficient delivery of care for foot and lower limb problems, usingprecision clinical skills and providing highly developed diagnostic services.The podiatrist can work autonomously as part of a motivated PCN team providinga high standard of clinical care in a variety of settings.
The post holder willbe skilled in all aspects of lower limb disease management including advice onpreventative care, footwear and foot health, plus supporting patients withdiabetes (and other long-term conditions). The post holder may also have experiencein biomechanics, casting, injection therapy and orthotic provision. Thepodiatrist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the PCN.
Person Specification Experience- Able to operate at an advanced level of practice
- Advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans
- Experience of assessment and treatment delivery in long term conditions and active management
- Ability to recognise own professional limits, and knowledge of when to seek help
- Commitment to supporting patients with behaviour change and self-management
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise, self-manage and self-motivate
- Ability to create and maintain good working relationships and networks across the multidisciplinary team
- Able to respond to the demands of the service across different GP practices
- Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise workloads able to multi-task as well as be self-disciplined and highly motivated
- Experience of working with Primary Care
- BSc or pre-reg MSc in Podiatry under a training programme approved by the College of Podiatry.
- Registered member of the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
- Evidence of previous research
- Experience of working with Primary Care
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence and persuade others articulating a balanced view and able to constructively question information.
- Build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders which are based on openness, honesty trust and confidence
