Responsibilities

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies. You will manage payroll data, resolve employee queries, and work closely with HR and finance teams to support payroll operations and reporting.

  • Process payroll accurately and on time, including salary payments, bonuses, deductions and adjustments
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including starters, leavers and changes to employee details
  • Respond to payroll related queries from employees and management promptly and professionally
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as tax, National Insurance and pension contributions
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with month end and year end payroll activities
  • Liaise with payroll providers, pension administrators and other third parties as necessary
  • Support payroll audits and process improvements
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security in line with GDPR and company policies
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in payroll processing or payroll administration
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, tax and pension regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP, Sage, Workday) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills for handling confidential information and employee queries
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP) is desirable but not essential
