We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist - International Markets in our Manno or London office.
Department OverviewThe Payroll Department is part of the MK EMEA Human Resources (HR) team and is responsible for processing payroll in compliance with local tax laws, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees and third parties (including social security, pension funds, and tax authorities) across 20 European countries.
What You'll Do- Provide accurate, timely, and efficient payroll services for Michael Kors employees. Ensure all operational aspects of payroll and related activities are accurate, timely, and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and agreements.
- Serve as backup support within the team.
- Handle the payroll process for international markets, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees and third parties (social security, pension, and tax authorities).
- Act as the main contact with the external payroll provider, submitting data for the monthly payroll process, reviewing preliminary reports, and approving the final version of payslips.
- Request approval of net payments to employees.
- Coordinate with the treasury team for social security, pension, and withholding tax payments.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders (health insurances, tax authorities, auditors).
- Provide the accounting team with the journal entry based on the monthly payroll process and handle accruals; follow up on payroll reconciliation as needed.
- Act as direct contact with auditors for statutory financial statement payroll requests.
- Resolve employee payroll enquiries related to payroll elements and tax calculations professionally.
- Perform SOX controls implemented at MK Europe level.
- Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports based on payroll data (including statistical reports and KPIs).
- Follow up on social security and employee tax audit and queries; involve relevant departments.
- Keep standard operating procedures up to date.
- Collaborate and support in projects.
- Diploma/Degree in HR/Economic educational background.
- Professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years payroll experience.
- Professional knowledge of payroll accounting and labor law, social security, and income tax law.
- Experience working with a multi-national organization.
- Very good administrative and organizational skills.
- English fluently and preferably another European language (French or German).
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Workday knowledge is a plus.
