Job Description

Sharp Consultancy is delighted to be partnering with a highly successful international organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager on an interim basis for around 3-6 months. This is an excellent opportunity to join a complex, fast-paced business where you'll lead payroll operations across multiple countries, driving compliance, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Reporting to senior leadership, you'll take ownership of a diverse regional payroll function, working with both internal teams and external providers to ensure an accurate, compliant and efficient payroll service across multiple jurisdictions.

The Role

This is a broad and strategic position, offering responsibility for the end-to-end management of payroll operations across several countries. You'll lead a team while working closely with Finance, HR, Tax and external partners to deliver a best-in class payroll function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of accurate and compliant payrolls across multiple countries.

  • Managing relationships with external payroll providers and ensuring agreed service levels are achieved.

  • Driving standardisation and continuous improvement across regional payroll processes.

  • Supporting the integration of newly acquired businesses into existing payroll operations.

  • Ensuring payroll activities remain fully compliant with relevant legislation, taxation and employment regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Producing payroll reporting and supporting month end accounting requirements.

  • Managing statutory submissions and year end payroll activities.

  • Acting as the key contact for internal and external audit activity relating to payroll.

  • Maintaining governance, controls and compliance across the payroll function.

  • Working collaboratively with HR, Finance, Reward and other stakeholders on payroll related initiatives.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, process improvement and emerging technologies, including AI where appropriate.

  • Leading, developing and mentoring a high performing payroll team.

About You

They are looking for an experienced payroll professional with a background in managing complex, multi country payroll operations within an international environment.

You'll Ideally Bring
  • Extensive experience managing payroll across multiple countries.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory compliance and governance.

  • Experience managing third party payroll providers and service delivery.

  • A proactive approach to process improvement and operational excellence.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Previous leadership experience with a passion for developing teams.

  • Confidence working within a fast moving, evolving international business.

  • An interest in leveraging technology, automation and AI to enhance payroll operations.
