We're recruiting a Payroll Manager in Glasgow on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to lead a high-performing team, deliver exceptional service to a varied client base, and play a key role in shaping the future of the firm's payroll offering.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you will lead, coach, and develop the payroll team, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency in all payroll processes. You'll be responsible for building a culture of accountability and professional excellence while maintaining strong client relationships.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the payroll team, including performance management and coaching
  • Building a high-performance team culture focused on accuracy, compliance, and professional excellence
  • Staying up to date with UK payroll and taxation legislation and emerging industry trends
  • Contributing to strategic growth opportunities with both new and existing clients
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow in payroll delivery
  • Conducting regular quality reviews to ensure governance and compliance standards are consistently met
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing proactive insights, and leading service meetings to resolve issues and celebrate successes

You will also collaborate with colleagues across the business to ensure payroll services align with client expectations and support wider business objectives.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing and developing teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients and stakeholders
  • Confident in overseeing team workflow to meet strict deadlines
  • Skilled in supporting effective dispute resolution
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • CIPP qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with IRIS Payroll Professional or Pay Circle advantageous but not essential
  • A leader of your work and your professional learning
  • Relevant experience in a similar payroll management role preferred
