Are you looking to build on your payroll experience within a supportive team that genuinely invests in its people? This is an excellent opportunity to join a large, well established organisation during an exciting period of payroll transformation. You'll become part of a friendly and collaborative payroll team where training, development and continuous improvement are genuinely encouraged. Following an initial training period, you'll enjoy a hybrid working pattern with up to 3 days working from home each week.

The Opportunity

Joining an experienced payroll team, you'll take ownership of an allocated section of the monthly payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in line with company procedures and current legislation. The role has been created to provide additional support whilst members of the team focus on an exciting payroll improvement project, making this a fantastic time to join the department. Working alongside experienced payroll professionals, you'll receive excellent training whilst becoming an integral member of a stable and supportive team.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Processing monthly payroll for an allocated group of employees.
  • Processing timesheets and payroll adjustments.
  • Ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Administering statutory payments including SSP, SMP and other payroll deductions.
  • Processing pension contributions and payroll amendments.
  • Undertaking manual payroll calculations where required.
  • Resolving payroll queries from employees and managers.
  • Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • Supporting payroll reconciliations.
  • Working closely with the wider payroll team to ensure payroll deadlines are achieved.
  • Contributing towards continuous improvement across the payroll function.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous payroll administration experience.
  • Experience processing payroll using a computerised payroll system.
  • Understanding of payroll legislation, including statutory payments such as SSP and SMP.
  • Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto enrolment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a collaborative approach.
  • Experience of payroll system implementations or process improvements would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
