Payroll & HR Specialist

Your New RoleAs Payroll & HR Specialist, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end monthly payroll while also providing comprehensive HR administration and employee support across the employee lifecycle.This is a genuinely hybrid position, combining payroll expertise with hands-on HR responsibilities.Key duties will include:

• Processing monthly payroll from start to finish, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, expenses and statutory payments.
• Managing payroll deductions including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, student loans and other authorised deductions.
• Supporting pension administration, auto-enrolment duties and payroll reconciliations.
• Preparing payroll reports and supporting year-end payroll activities.
• Coordinating recruitment activity, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews, preparing offers and issuing contracts.
• Supporting onboarding and induction processes for new employees.
• Acting as a first point of contact for payroll and HR-related queries from employees and managers.
• Assisting with absence management administration and employee lifecycle changes.
• Supporting employee relations matters and escalating complex cases where appropriate.
• Contributing to HR projects, process improvements and policy updates.
• Maintaining accurate employee and payroll records while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and data protection requirements.

What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will possess:

• A payroll qualification or equivalent payroll experience.
• At least 5 years' experience processing end-to-end payroll within a multi-site or multi-entity organisation.
• Experience using payroll systems such as PayCircle, Sage or similar payroll software.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and workplace pension schemes.
• Experience managing payroll compliance and employee data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel and general systems skills.
• Strong organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with employees and managers at all levels.

Desirable experience includes:

• HR administration or HR generalist experience.
• Exposure to recruitment coordination, onboarding, absence management or employee relations support.
• CIPD qualification or studies towards a recognised HR qualification.
• Experience within a regulated or compliance-driven environment.
