Job Description

Cardiff is a vibrant and growing city, and we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Passenger Transport Team.

About the job

Liaising with bus operators and stakeholders on all issues relating to the public transport network. Co-ordinating spot checks and follow up work on all Passenger Transport routes and contractors, vetting contactor Health & safety policies, supporting contractors to improve their systems and processes to improve management, co-ordinating and delivering Training to contractors and drivers and escorts.

To co-ordinate the delivery of all Social Necessary Supported Public Bus Services.

Co-ordinating the procurement of all contracts required for Supported Public Bus Services and the contractual compliance including checks.

Undertaking the checking and assessment of new Contractors qualifications and requirements on Approved Supplier List.

Liaising with operators/contractors, drivers/escorts, passengers and parents on all issues involving public and school transport on a day to day basis.

To monitor, review and process disability and companion concessionary bus pass scheme applications and contractors claims.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to support the delivery of ;

  • Monitoring and reviewing all supported bus services requirements to ensure that the Council is providing Social Necessary public Bus Services where required.
  • Responsible for implementing and undertaking all procurement relating to supported public transport requirements including vetting and assessing contractors and operators, preparing all tender documentation and contract award reports. Assessing Tenders submitted negotiating to deliver best value.
  • Reviewing and supporting the implementation of new passenger and public transport related legislation requirements, preparing briefing notes on implications to public transport within the City so that senior officers and members can make appropriate decisions in a timely manner.
  • Vetting and assessing all new passenger transport contractors onto the approved supplier list. Supporting new suppliers through the process and working with all approved suppliers to monitor and work with them to improve their Health & Safety policies and processes.
  • Lead role in preparing, coordinating and delivering awareness, supplier approval processes, safeguarding and health and safety training to contractors and their staff.
