Position: Part-Time Grounds & Maintenance Assistant
Location: Orchard Manor, Near Kings Lynn, Downham Market, PE34 3HT
Salary: £16,536 per annum ( not pro rata ) / £13.25 per hour
Hours: 24 hours per week 3 Days (TBC)
Contract: Permanent 52 weeks
Start: February 2026

The Role

We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Grounds & Maintenance Assistant to help keep our school safe, tidy, and welcoming. You'll take pride in maintaining the grounds, carrying out general upkeep and minor repairs, and supporting health and safety checks - creating an environment where our pupils can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the school grounds to a high standard, including lawns, pathways, and outdoor areas
  • Carry out minor repairs, decoration, and general upkeep tasks
  • Monitor and support health & safety checks across the site
  • Use hand tools and basic machinery safely and effectively
  • Support contractors or external teams as required
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety and COSHH guidance

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience in grounds maintenance, caretaking, or similar practical roles
  • Is confident using hand tools and basic machinery
  • Understands basic health & safety and COSHH requirements
  • Takes a practical, dependable, and proactive approach to work
  • Enjoys being part of a team and contributing to a positive school environment

About Us

Orchard Manor School, part of Options Autism, is a brand-new independent specialist school opening near King's Lynn in Downham Market. The school will cater for up to 72 pupils aged 5 to 16 with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
