Job Description

Park Keeper

Location: Camden

Hourly Rate: £13.85

Contract type: Temp to Perm

Hours - 37.5 HPW.

You will work various shift patterns to cover the client's needs - shifts will vary between 07:30 and 20:00. Typical shift patterns: Week 1, 07 00, 6 days per week; Week 2, 12 00, 5 days per week.

Within this role you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of local parks, providing a friendly presence to park users, and carrying out various grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks. You will also play a key role in ensuring the safety and well being of park visitors through proper maintenance and regular site inspections, and ensuring that the parks remain well maintained and enjoyable for all visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unlock and secure designated parks at prescribed times, carrying out visual inspections and reporting any defects.
  • Perform litter picking, sweeping, and other cleansing duties to maintain a clean environment.
  • Carry out light horticultural tasks, including weeding, deadheading, and watering plants.
  • Oversee sports pitch bookings, log payments, and issue receipts.
  • Operate small machinery and tools, performing basic maintenance and ensuring their correct operation.
  • Assist with the organization and delivery of community events, such as tree plantings and clean up days.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to park users, responding to queries and reporting any complaints to your supervisor.
  • Drive company vehicles, including crew cab vans with trailers and specialist horticultural equipment.
Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
  • Has a strong passion for parks, nature, and outdoor spaces.
  • Has experience in grounds maintenance or gardening (or a willingness to learn).
  • Can operate hand tools and small machinery safely and effectively.
  • Is able to work independently, with great attention to detail.
  • Can interact with the public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Is flexible and willing to work weekends as part of your regular rota.
