About the Role

The successful candidate will lead, develop, and motivate a team of up to eight talented Paraplanners, working closely with the Head of Advice to elevate the firm's advice standards and ensure a seamless, robust support service for Financial Advisers and clients.

With a blend of strategic oversight, workflow management, quality assurance, and hands-on technical expertise, this role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to make a genuine impact.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of up to eight Paraplanners, cultivating a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Carry out regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and training needs assessments.
  • Manage workflow and task allocation, ensuring SLAs and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Oversee induction and ongoing development of new team members.
  • Act as the key liaison between the internal paraplanning team and the outsourced provider, creating efficient, end-to-end processes that support Advisers effectively.

Service Delivery & Quality Assurance

  • Partner with the Head of Advice to define and refine paraplanning standards, systems, and service delivery models.
  • Conduct detailed file checks and suitability report reviews to uphold exceptional technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex queries from Paraplanners and Advisers.
  • Drive the adoption of technology and digital tools to optimise efficiency.
  • Manage outsourced partner performance, monitoring SLAs, KPIs, and turnaround times to ensure consistent quality.

Technical & Strategic Support

  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at improving the advice journey and operational excellence.
  • Produce complex technical analysis and suitability reports when required.
  • Maintain strong market, product, and regulatory knowledge to ensure standards remain current and client-focused.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Paraplanning role, ideally with supervisory or leadership responsibilities within a financial advice business.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Advice (or equivalent) is essential; progression towards Chartered status is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical expertise across Pensions, Investments, Protection, and Tax/Trust planning.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
