LOCATION: Clare-Gladwin Area School

ASSIGNMENT: All Classrooms (Area School and Early Childhood Special Education Program)

REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher and Area School Principal

WAGES: According to MEA Contract. Starting Pay: $14.37 per hour, or higher, based on actual years of experience.

SCHEDULE: School-year position following the district calendar.

STARTING DATE: School Year (August 2026).

JOB SUMMARY:

The Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teachers, itinerant staff and others in the support of instructional, health-related, recreation and/or pre-vocational job training activities. The Paraeducator may be assigned to one classroom or to a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, and peers.
• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.
• Must demonstrate cooperative and effective communication skills, both oral and written, and apply active listening skills.
