Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Painter/Multi-Skilled Operative to join us at Great Yarmouth Borough Council. This is for a 1 year fixed term contract.

The purpose of the role is to assist with and complete a wide range of unskilled and skilled maintenance based roles. The successful candidate will need to ensure good quality workmanship, which upholds company standards, complies with building regulations and follows safety requirements.

This role is suitable for someone who can decorate and apply surface finishes to all areas both internal and external and be able to work with new practices and undertake different trade specifics tasks.

Please note, this role does require the successful candidate to be placed on our emergency out of hours call out rota.

About You

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and safety-conscious operative with extensive experience in construction, maintenance, or a similar trade environment. The successful candidate will hold a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification, or an equivalent approved training record, and have proven experience working as an operative, alongside at least two years' experience or a recognised qualification in a secondary trade.

You will have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and good working practices, with the ability to work safely at height and in a range of environments, including outdoor locations and adverse weather conditions. A practical, hands on approach and experience using common construction tools are essential, as is the physical fitness and stamina required to undertake demanding duties.

The ideal candidate will possess basic Maths and English qualifications (GCSE or equivalent), be computer literate and comfortable using tablets and smartphones for work-related tasks, and hold a full, clean driving licence. Strong communication skills and a working knowledge of additional trades would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Basic or Enhanced DBS check.
